Emergency procedures

Dial 614-827-2547 for security and emergencies within the Greater Columbus Convention Center. For your safety and security issues, always be aware of your surroundings. Familiarize yourself with the facility exits and the procedures below.
 

Medical situations

Non-life-threatening medical or other situations

Locate a room number, booth number or other landmark. Call 614-827-2547 or dial 2547 from any in-house phone. This connects you with the convention center’s Public Safety Team. They take the necessary information regarding your situation, notify emergency services and escort responders directly to the location of the situation.
 

Life-threatening emergency

Dial 911, then follow the procedures above to notify the convention center’s Public Safety Team.
 

Fire alarms and evacuations

Strobe lights and an audible alarm sound throughout the building when the fire system is activated. If an evacuation is necessary, the convention center’s Public Safety Team and event management personnel notifies you to calmly exit the facility via the nearest exit.
 

Severe weather and shelter-in-place

If severe weather is present in the area, the National Weather Service issues a warning, and if necessary, instructs for shelter-in-place. The convention center’s Public Safety Team and event management personnel notifies you to calmly move to the stairways, bathrooms and interior meeting rooms.
 

Security situations

Should a security situation arise, call 614-827-2547 or dial 2547 from any in-house phone to notify the convention center’s Public Safety Team. They make the appropriate determinations as to the course of action and notify you accordingly.
 

Lost and found

Please check with the safety congress registration area if you misplace a belonging. Lost items are given to the convention center’s Public Safety Command Center when the event concludes. Items not claimed within 30 days are donated or discarded. You can reach the Public Safety Command Center at 614-827-2547.
